This was a fun project to do. Art director Guilherme Cunha and Copywriter Rodrigo Dorfman from DM9 Rio had this fun idea of two ads for Americanas.com, a brasilian department store specialized in selling household equipment in store and online.
Their intent was to, instead of doing a common ad for washing machines depicting the equipment in question, work on a concept / idea to sell a promotion of the gadget.
Me and my partner Diego Mello joined forces to produce this piece. After some pre-production to chose the elements for the shot, Diego had a very nice light set up placed at our product studio so we could start shooting. We chose to do everything with photos instead of illustrating a CGI Ketchup and Mustard blot, so with tooth picks at hand I drew the blots on a paper base that we shot with the same camera position as the blouse / shirt shots. Everything was composed after in PS. We did some small color grading and light tweaks, along with the integration of the blots on the fabric (witch you can see in the detail image bellow).
Now we just received the news that the pieces were awarded Bronze in "Prêmio Colunistas 2012" an important advertising award here in Brasil! Very happy with this news!
